Rae Bareli:In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a man in a village in Sareni area of Rae Bareli district of Uttar Pradesh chopped off one hand and both legs of his wife with a machete on Sunday, official sources said. It is learnt that the horrific incident happened late on Sunday night where the man attacked his wife at his in-laws house.
CO Lalganj Mahipal Pathak said that the accused identified as Kapil, son of Vasudev, resident of Jhakarkati in Kanpur district attacked his wife Shivkala (27), daughter of Late Shivkala, resident of Ramkheda village of Sareni area at her maternal house. CO Lalganj Mahipal Pathak said that the husband-wife were embroiled in a dispute since their marriage due to which she was living at her maternal house.

He said that on Sunday, Kapil reached his in-laws' house under the influence of alcohol. After this, he started fighting with his wife at around four o'clock, the official said. “When his wife protested, he cut off one hand and both legs with a sword. When the screams were heard, the nearby people including the family reached the spot,” added the police official.
The family later admitted the woman to the district hospital in a critical condition. Dr. Anurag Shukla, posted in the emergency of the district hospital, said that a woman has been referred from CHC Bhojpur in critical condition. Family members said that the husband had attacked the wife with a sharp weapon. The condition of the woman is critical and she is currently undergoing treatment.
CO Lalganj said that a case has been registered and the accused husband has been arrested.
