Prayagraj(Uttar Pradesh): A blind resident from Prayagraj in UP continues to mend punctured tyres of cars and two-wheelers despite his disability. Mohammed Azad lost both his eyes 33 years ago after a tyre burst but has kept his profession alive.
Inspiration for people, Azad started mending punctured tyres of cars and two-wheelers after three years of losing his eyesight.
''I am engaged in this profession since past 45 years. I lost my eyes 33 years ago when the tyre of a truck burst all of a sudden but I resumed my job again,'' Azad said while speaking to ETV Bharat.

He said,'' I went for the treatment to many hospitals but all in vain. So, after three years I decided to continue my old work. Initially, I used to take help from others but now I am able to manage things on my own. At present, I can repair a punctured tyre within 15 to 20 minutes.''
Azad can even judge the air pressure of a tyre by just knocking at it and then pump air as required. However, at times his son assists him in reading the air pressure level. In the beginning, a lot of hardships came on his way but Azad chose not to give up as he had to look after his family.
Giving a message to the handicapped people, Azad said that physically disabled people should not give up. They should work for their living and earn their livelihood comfortably. Azad wants that the government should provide financial aid to him so that he can work harder for a living.
