UP journos protest over colleague's murder in Ghaziabad

Uttar Pradesh journalists held a protest outside Ghaziabad's Yashoda Hospital demanding justice for their colleague Vikram Joshi, who was shot at in Ghaziabad's Vijay Nagar area on July 20. Vikram succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.

Ghaziabad: Scores of journalists in Ghaziabad on Wednesday staged a sit-in protest outside the Yashoda Hospital in the city against the murder of their colleague Vikram Joshi by some assailants on Monday night.

Joshi, who was shot at in Ghaziabad's Vijay Nagar area on July 20, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. Joshi had received a bullet injury on his head.

The whole incident was captured in the CCTV camera.

The incident occurred days after Joshi had filed a complaint with Vijay Nagar Police Station stating that some men were harassing his niece.

Shouting slogans outside the hospital premises, the journalists demanded action against the accused involved in the killing. They said that they are now scared to go to work following the incident and will continue to protest until justice is delivered.

So far, nine people have been arrested including two main accused, Ravi and Chotu.

The other accused have also been identified, namely as Mohit, Dalveer, Akash aka Lulli, Yogendra, Abhishek Hakla, Abhishek Mota and Shakir. Efforts to nab another accused Ashok is underway.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a compensation of rupees 10 lakhs and a job to Joshi's wife.
