UP: Celebratory firing in marriage, video goes viral

In a shocking incident, a rash celebratory firing took place during a wedding ceremony in Uttar Pradesh. The video of the incident went viral after which police registered a case against unknown persons.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Despite all the restrictions in place in Uttar Pradesh on celebratory firing at marriages, it is taking place with no checks from the authorities.

The latest case is from Rani Sarai police circle in Azamgarh district where a person allegedly restored to celebratory firing for fun. The act was done by none other than Manoj Singh, brother of IP Singh, a powerful leader of Samajwadi Party. The matter came to the light after a man posted the video of the same.

Manoj Singh defied the court orders and restored to firing in the air even though people at the marriage tried to stop him.

The police have registered a case however despite the video evidence the police is not taking any action against Manoj Singh and have filed a case against unknown persons.

The Superintendent of Police, on the other hand, says that action will be taken against whosoever is in the video.

Parliament had in 2019 passed the Arms (Amendment) Act which prohibits the use of firearms in celebratory firing, violation of which would attract a fine of Rs 1,00,000 or imprisonment for two years or both.
