UP ATS arrests Al-Qaeda suspect Inamul Haq's aide from Kathua

The Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested Shakeel Ahmed, an aide of Inamul Haq, the suspected Al Qaeda operative who was arrested from Bareilly earlier in June. Ahmed has been accused of staying in touch with Pakistani handlers to lure youngsters to fight for terrorist organisations in the name of jihad.

Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir): The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have arrested Al Qaeda suspect Inamul Haq's aide Shakeel Ahmed from Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua.

According to reports, Ahmed was in constant contact with Haq and Pakistani terror handlers. Ahmed used to reportedly lure youngsters and incite them to fight for terrorist organisations in the name of jihad.

According to sources, Ahmed was in touch with Pakistani handlers via software applications.

Meanwhile, the UP ATS have brought him to Lucknow from Kathua on transit remand.

Earlier on June 18, the UP ATS had arrested suspected Al-Qaeda operative Inamul Haq from the Quila area of Bareilly district.

Offensive literature related to Al-Qaeda was reportedly found to be stored in his mobile phone which has been seized for further investigations.

Subsequently on June 21, the UP ATS arrested another terror suspect, Salman Khurshid from the Ramban area of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the initial interrogation, it was reportedly found that Salman Khurshid, was in contact with Inamul Haq through an app. Haq and Khurshid were connected on Telegram and they had a group on the app.

Haq has so far reportedly radicalised several youths across the country.

The UP ATS meanwhile is searching for all those who have been radicalised by Inamul to fight in the name of jihad.

Inamul had also reportedly confessed in an interrogation that he was deeply influenced by the jihadi ideology and was working on radicalising other youths as well.
