Aligarh:A trainee aircraft crashed at the Dhanipur airstrip in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh on Sunday. The plane got stuck in the mud, dragging it for about 20 to 25 meters. The plane did not catch fire and the pilot and trainee pilot escaped safely. The Investigation Team of Civil Aviation arrived from Delhi on Monday to investigate the matter. For now, all types of flights and landings have been banned at the airport.
The Dhanipur airstrip in Aligarh is planned to develop as one of the well-established airports following which the run-way is being expanded here. Airport related facilities are also being provided in the new building. Four flying clubs have been registered here to provide training to pilots. The airport will cost about Rs 4 crore which was approved by the district administration.
