Muzaffarnagar:Two more persons have been booked under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Ordinance in Muzaffarnagar district.

According to Station House Officer, K.P. Singh, a case has been registered against Nadeem and Salman, who work as labourers in a factory in Haridwar on Tuesday.

He said that the complainant in the case alleged that Nadeem would frequent his place in Haridwar in connection with the work and gradually got acquainted with his family, particularly his wife.

The SHO said that the complainant alleged that Nadeem, with the help of his friend Salman, started pressurizing his wife to marry him after conversion.

When the complainant came to know about it, he shifted his family to Mansoorpur, but Nadeem and his friend continued mounting pressure on the woman through phone calls.

The police official said that no arrests had been made and a team was being sent for an investigation.

This is the third case to be filed under the ordinance since it came into force.

The first case was registered under it against a Muslim man in Bareilly district on Saturday night when a Hindu man of Sharifnagar village accused a Muslim man of pressurizing his daughter to convert to Islam.

The second case under the ordinance was also registered in Bareilly on Monday.

The state cabinet had cleared the ordinance last month, targeting what many right-wing groups term as "love jihad", which involves Muslim men marrying the Hindu women.

According to the ordinance, marriage with the intention of changing a woman's religion will be declared null and void.
