Two arrested for setting ablaze 18-year-old girl in Sultanpur

On September 21, three men, out of old enmity, overpowered the victim, Shraddha Singh, and tied her hands and legs before pouring kerosene over her. The trio then set the girl ablaze in which she suffered critical injuries and died.

Sultanpur:The Baldirai police have arrested two men related to the murder of an 18-year-old girl who was allegedly burnt alive in Sultanpur on Monday and both were produced before the court.

Subhash Singh Chouhan and Jaikaran Chouhan have been sent to jail after an initial inquiry was done by the Additional Superintendent of Police Shiv Raj, District Magistrate, Vijaymal Yadav, and Inspector Heera Singh of Crime Branch.

The trio then set the girl ablaze in which she suffered critical injuries and died while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Lucknow late Monday night.

Based on the victim’s dying statement, she was drawing water from a handpump outside her house when she was attacked by Jaykaran, Subhash, and Mahanthe who overpowered her and set her ablaze.

It has come to light that the victim's father Pradeep Singh had some enmity over land grabbing issues with a fellow villager Jay Karan. On June 2, both the parties were also involved in a fight in which several members from both sides were injured.

Kunwar Singh who was also against Singh died after the violent clash.
