Lucknow (UP): The terror attack on three Christian churches in Sri Lanka and three luxury hotels in the commercial capital Colombo has made Indian businessmen from Uttar Pradesh afraid of visiting the island nation.
India imports a large number of spices including Black Pepper, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg from Srilanka.
The blasts have adversely affected the retail market for spices in Uttar-Pradesh. According to a wholesale market seller, "all businessmen are afraid of going to Srilanka and that affected the overall prices in the market. The price of almost all spices imported from Srilanka has increased by 20%-30%. Last month, Black pepper was Rs 300 per Kg but now it is Rs 400 per Kg."
As the businessmen delay imports from the island nation, the prices of essential spices are said to skyrocket in the coming days in the northern state.
