Dalit teenager gang-raped, converted in UP, three arrested

A 15-year-old girl was being raped for the last three years by a married man. The prime accused, his two brothers along with his friends have forced the girl to consume the meat of a banned animal and forcefully converted her religion. The girl is from the Dalit community and is seven months pregnant.

Baghpat (Uttar Pradesh): A heart-wrenching incident has come to the fore in UP's Baghpat district. A 15-year-old Dalit girl was being raped for the last three years by a married man, who is also a father of a child. The prime accused Shahzad along with his two brothers Bilal and Farman and their friends Sameer and Jannat also gang-raped the teenager. They have also forced the girl to consume the meat of a banned animal and forcefully converted her religion as well.

The girl is from the Dalit community and is seven months pregnant. A few days ago, Shahzad called the teenager to their home on the pretext of marriage. There Shahzad's father Haroon and mother Gulfasa locked the teenager in the room. Later, the teenager was gang-raped at gunpoint.

The girl was also intimidated and threatened. The victim later narrated her ordeal to her father when her health started deteriorating. Her father informed the whole matter to the police and filed a complaint against the accused. Baghpat policer arrested the accused Shahzad, his father Haroon and his mother Gulfasa.

A case has been registered against all the accused including charges of gang rape and forceful religious conversion. This incident has caused a lot of anger among the people of the Dalit community. Police are now looking for others involved in the girl's gang-rape.
