Spanish Couple adopts Sitapur's child after three year's formalities

A couple from Spain adopted a child from Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur on Monday. They had to wait three years to get all the official paperwork done.

Sitapur:'Parenthood requires love, not DNA.' Somewhere along these lines, a couple from Spain reached India three years back in search of a child to raise.

Marcos Antonio Gomez and Mariya Lusiya Calvodale from Madrid, Spain decided to adopt a child from India after their friend shared her experience of adoption. "India is a great country. We had a friend who also adopted from here and they are very happy," said Mariya with glitter in her eyes.

Orphaned soon after birth, Kartik from Sitapur had no idea what destiny had for him. The year 2016 changed his life when the couple from Spain decided to adopt Kartik as their son.

Official paperwork took three long years to unite the couple with the boy.

The couple reached on Monday with lots of gifts for their son. Their excitement of parenthood could be seen as they held hands and hugged the boy with love.

"According to the formal procedure today the formalities were completed and now the couple is here to take Kartik with them," said Jamal, the advocate of the couple.

Balaji Vidya Mandir in Sitapur took care of Kartik right from his birth. The boy was allowed to be taken soon after the formalities were done.

The officials will take follow-ups about him every six months according to the laid procedure.
