Kaushambi (Uttar Pradesh):Two members of a family died and one was injured after a pile of soil eroded on them in the wee hours of Thursday.

According to the locals, villagers used to excavate the soil from the pile of earth near here in order to paint their house every day. On Thursday morning, wife of Bajilal, Sunita Devi, went to bring some soil along with her two daughters Poonam (16) and Anjali (12).

In the due process, the soil eroded from the top and mother and daughters got trapped under the soil.

Noticing the incident, villagers gathered and recovered the bodies of Poonam and Anjali from the pile of soil.

When police reached the spot, an excavator has been assigned to recover the body of Sunita Devi. Luckily, Devi sustained injuries and has been admitted to a nearby hospital where her condition is said to be stable.

Meanwhile, the family has denied taking the dead bodies of the daughter and demanded a compensation amount of Rs 2 lakh.

However, Kaushambi Sub Divisional Magistrate Rajesh Srivastava reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
