Shahjahanpur police file FIR in gang-rape matter after court intervenes

The incident took place in Ladpur Sarai village under Kanth police station area of the district on the intervening night of August 16-17 when five people of the village entered the house of the victim and forcibly took her to the house of one of the accused and took turns to rape her for over five hours.

Shahjahanpur: A gang-rape victim has accused that the police officials did not register her complaint of rape and kept on ignoring the same for a month and a half until the court ordered them to do so.

It's learnt that her complaint was registered after the court ordered the police in this regard.

The incident took place in Ladpur Sarai village under Kanth police station area of the district on the intervening night of August 16-17 when five people of the village entered the house of the victim and forcibly took her to the house of one of the accused and took turns to rape her for over five hours.

The victim was freed early morning and she informed her husband about the incident as he reached home from the fields after working there in the night.

They approached the police but the police officials kept on ignoring their complaint and even tried to get the matter "settled" through talks between the two parties.

Finally, after the court's order, a case of gang-rape has been registered against all five accused identified as Dharam Singh, Rajkumar, Bhagwan Singh, Arun and Ramniwas.

No police officer wants to comment on the matter after the court directed them to file FIR in the matter.
