Seven of family fall ill after consuming prasad in Uttar Pradesh

Seven members of a family fell ill after consuming prasad after conducting a puja at their home in Shahjahanpur of Uttar Pradesh.

Shahjahanpur: Seven members of a family including four children fell ill after allegedly consuming 'prasad' here in Jalalabad of Uttar Pradesh.

The affected family members -- parents and their four children -- complained of vomiting and dizziness after one hour of consuming the food.

One of the family members Rajeev said, "For offering prasad in Puja, I brought 'khoa' from village. All family members who ate the prasad are now admitted in the hospital."

Harichand along with his family members consumed the prasad brought from the market after conducting a puja at their home.

With the help of locals, the patients were admitted to the Community Health Centre and later on, were shifted to Medical College.

"Seven people have been admitted and are under observatory treatment," said doctor Meraj Alam, Emergency Medical Officer.

The doctor said that the patients will be under observation for the next 24 hours.
