Lucknow:In an disparaging act of ragging, first-year MBBS students of Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences here were allegedly forced to tonsure their heads by their seniors and "bow in reverence" to them.
Seniors suspended after ragging with MBBS students The video of first-year MBBS students walking in a line-their heads shaved has been doing rounds on social media.
However, the administration has termed it as the act of discipline.
Some 200 students in the first year of MBBS were forced by the seniors to shave their heads.
Following which, students of the 2019 of the institute have filed a complaint with the anti-ragging cell of the union government after they were allegedly subjected to ragging recently.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, the institute administration issued a warning and notices to senior students and four of them were suspended.
However, the students were released after they apologised from the institution authorities.
Despite the strict action by the administration the situation in the institution has not changed yet.The anti-ragging squad has warned seniors of strict action on the slightest of suspicion of misconduct.
Reacting on the incident, Institute's spokesperson Vikram Singh said, "The institute administration takes the smallest incident of ragging seriously and if any such incident comes to light then strict action will be taken against those guilty."
The anti-ragging squad has been formed in the institute which looks into these types of matter, he added.
