Varanasi: In a noble act, a man from Varanasi initiated a self-help group 'Roti Bank' to feed the hunger-stricken poor, here. Kishore, a teacher by profession, had started the 'Roti Bank' that collects unused food from people across the city to feed the needy.
He started the group with the help of his students and some close friends. Kishore said, "I faced many hurdles in the beginning. Thereafter, I started using social media to associate more people with the initiative. Now, the group has more than 30,000 members."
He went on to say that people were even providing their old vehicles to distribute the collected food items. People now keep the food items hanging on their door which is thereby collected by the 'Roti Bank'.
