Chief secretary, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari has directed the district administrations of UP to provide necessary treatment to all migrant labourers, who are coming to the state due to nationwide lockdown.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, on Thursday directed the district administrations to provide necessary treatments to all migrant labourers, who are coming to the state due to nationwide lockdown.

"All government officials and employees should treat the migrants with respect and kindness. In case of any laxity in this matter, action will be taken against the officers and employees concerned. Arrangements for proper food, fresh drinking water, and pandals at appropriate places," said the chief secretary while directing the officials.

"Arrangement of adequate buses at the place of entry in the state and at least 200 private buses and school buses in each district should be reserved for the migrants. Proper arrangements should be made to take migrants by buses or trains so that migrants do not have to travel on foot or other unsafe vehicles - two-wheelers, three-wheelers," Tiwari said.

He also directed officers to employ migrant labourers for the job so that they also get a livelihood.

"Monitoring committees should be fully active as per the instructions issued by the Health Department. For monitoring, the persons, who are under home quarantine should be reviewed on a daily basis. All the magistrates, police officers, and PRV-112 vehicles should be patrolled continuously. People on duty must use adequate safety material such as masks, gloves, sanitizers," Tiwari added.
