Lucknow:Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who had on Monday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over unpaid dues to sugarcane farmers of Uttar Pradesh has landed in soup with a young farmer countering her claim.
Alok Mishra, a young farmer corrected the AICC general secretary saying that the dues weren't paid last year, however, this year it has been settled. He also suggested that Priyanka should read the full news before tweeting about it.
"The BJP government has Rs 20,000 crore to build a new Parliament corridor, Rs 16,000 crore to buy a special plane for PM. However, it has no money to pay Rs 14,000 crore dues to the sugarcane farmers of UP. The price of sugarcane has not increased since 2017. This government only thinks about billionaires," Vadra had tweeted.
Earlier also, in February, the Congress leader had wrongly tweeted an image and claimed it to be from Delhi border where soldiers had gone immediately after getting leaves.
However, the image was from Ludhiana, and Priyanka had to delete the tweet within ten minutes of putting it out.
During the spread of coronavirus, the Congress leader had questioned the Agra model in a tweet and said that 28 people have died within 48 hours.
Following her tweet, people panicked and Agra District Collector Prabhu Narayan Singh had come forward to deny the information. He also issued a notice to Priyanka Gandhi seeking an answer within 24 hours.
