Mirzapur:Hours after the district magistrate Praveen Kumar Lakshkar, taking cognizance of the shocking incident where the principal of a private school on Thursday dangled a child upside down from the first floor of the school building as a punishment, police swung into action and arrested the erring principal Manoj Vishwakarma on Friday.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Sadbhavna Shikshan Sansthan Junior High School in Ahraura, on Thursday.
Taking cognizance of the photo going viral on social media, Magistrate Lakshkar directed Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Gautam Prasad to take necessary action. The BSA along with the Block Education Officer, Municipal Area Jamalpur reached the school site and investigated the matter.
A case was registered on the charges of child abuse.
The police took the teacher into custody and interrogated him. The process of canceling the recognition of the school has been started.
According to the police, Sonu, who is studying in nursery class is five years old. On the basis of the complaint of the student's father Ranjit Yadav, a case of sections 352, 506 and 75 of the Juvenile Act was registered at Ahraura police station.
Earlier, the school principal Manoj Vishwakarma, apparently, got angry with Sonu Yadav, a Class 2 student, for being 'naughty while eating'. In a fit of rage, he grabbed the child by one of his legs and hung him from the first-floor balcony of the school building to teach him a lesson in front of other students.
Vishwakarma pulled up the child even as was screaming and begging for forgiveness. The incident was captured on camera and uploaded on social media.
Sonu's father Ranjit Yadav said, "My son had only gone to eat gol gappa with other kids and they were being a little naughty. For this, the principal meted out such a punishment which could have endangered my son's life."
