Varanasi:Preparations are underway in Khidkiyan Ghat for building a helipad for which the Varanasi Commissioner Deepak Agarwal held a meeting with other officials on Monday.
Under the development scheme, various projects have been given a go-ahead in the spiritual capital of India.
Agrawal also reviewed the progress of the major projects in the district in his divisional auditorium and set a timeline and deadline for each work.
He ordered that the higher officials of the executive organizations go to the place itself and supervise the quality of the work and that they do not depend on subordinates alone.
They should also keep a track of daily progress and increase the number of people working.
A new Kashi by December
The deadline to complete the Rudraksha project is set on December 15 this year for which chairs are coming from Kolkata for the auditorium.
Agarwal also expressed displeasure over the slow pace of construction of the Godoulia two-wheeler vehicle parking and said it should be completed by December 2020.

Work of Chetganj Fire Station, State Livestock and Agriculture Sector, Gate and boundary construction work of Nateshwari Bhawani Temple, Trans Varuna Sewage Treatment Scheme, Water Supply in Trans Varuna Area, Multipurpose Seed Store Center in Jansa etc. have been completed.
Keeping a close watch on various schemes
There have been 28,612 connections in the drinking water connection scheme implemented in 5 zones of the city. In the Trans Varuna Sewerage Treatment Scheme, 25,782 houses have been connected to the sewer line chamber.
In the meeting, progress of various national highway construction, bypass ring road phase-2, Lahartara-Phulwaria project, Panchkoshi to Nakai road, construction of driver training center, IPDS works, various ponds in smart city like-Nadesar, Chakra and Sonbhadra ponds Beautification work, revitalization of ghats, redevelopment works of the road junction of the city, about 100 works were also reviewed point-wise.
Recovery will be done witha penalty for negligence in work
If there is any shortfall in road construction and other construction work, then the responsible Junior Engineer (JE) will be acted upon and the engineer will also be taken action on the laxity of supervision.
The contractor would be blacklisted and penalties will be recovered, there will be no compromise with quality.
The government is displaying zero-tolerance towards corruption and in Trans Varuna, the capacity and quality of the water supply for the area in which work has been done for water supply will be checked.
