Padma awardee seeks justice after daughter's death

Veteran classical singer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Pandit Chhannulal Mishra has demanded justice for his daughter's death who allegedly succumbed to COVID-19 due to negligence by a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi district.

Varanasi: Padma Vibhushan Pandit Chhannulal Mishra has released a video seeking justice after his COVID-19 positive daughter passed away due to alleged negligence by a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi.

As per reports, Mishra's younger daughter has accused the hospital of negligence and lodged a complaint against the facility.

Last month, Mishra's wife had also succumbed to COVID at a private hospital in the Gurdham area of Varanasi. Then on May 1, his elder daughter also passed away at Medwin Hospital in the district.

After her death, the hospital allegedly failed to provide any details about the death, patient records or CCTV footage. This prompted the younger daughter to lodge a complaint against the facility.

Following this, the Varanasi district administration has set up a medical inquiry committee to probe the matter.

It is worth mentioning here that Pandit Chhannulal Mishra is a veteran Hindustani classical singer who was also the proposer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
