Owaisi to meet UP ex-minister in Varanasi

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi is on a visit to Uttar Pradesh where he is expected to meet the leader of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party Om Prakash Rajbhar. The state goes to polls in 2022 to choose a new government.

Varanasi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi reached Varanasi on Tuesday to meet former Uttar Pradesh Minister and chief of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Om Prakash Rajbhar ahead of assembly elections in the state in 2022. After reaching Varanasi airport, Owaisi slammed Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

Speaking to reporters here, Owaisi said," During Akhilesh's government, I was not even allowed to come to Purvanchal but now I have come to win here."

"We are now with Rajbhar Ji and We have started preparations for the election. It was very important to come here and we will fight the upcoming elections firmly," he said.

Hitting out at former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Akhilesh Yadav, Owaisi said," We tried many times to come here during the rule of SP but I was prevented from coming here 12 times. My permission was cancelled 28 times, but now we have arrived."

Notably, in December, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi announced his party's intention to fight the next state elections in Uttar Pradesh as part of a front led by Om Prakash Rajbhar, a former BJP ally.
