Lakhimpur Kheri:Uttar Pradesh Police has summoned Ashish Mishra, the son of the Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra to appear before it on October 8 in connection with the violence during the farmers’ protest. Police pasted a notice outside the residence of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra in Lakhimpur Kheri on Thursday.

Notably, two people are being quizzed in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which eight people were killed, and Union minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra has been summoned for questioning, said Inspector General of Police Laxmi Singh.

Police have arrested two persons in connection with the Sunday violence in the Lakhimpur district. The arrested persons have been identified as Luvkush Rana and Ashish Pandey, according to the police spokesperson.

Four of the eight people who died in Sunday's violence in Lakhimpur Kheri were farmers, allegedly knocked down by vehicles driven by BJP workers travelling to welcome Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya to an event in the area.
