Uttar Pradesh: Nothing to eat at home, people defy lockdown

Ghaziabad: Underlining that hunger is a major force, people in the district said they came out on the streets hoping that someone would provide them with something to eat.

Men and women could be seen waiting for food or ration on the road.

On being asked if they do not worry about the police, who may punish them for coming out during the lockdown, most of them said they can't sit at home with nothing to eat.

Most of the people with whom the ETV Bharat spoke to, said it had become unbearable for them to sit indoors as they do not have any resources to feed their families.

"My wife and child are at home. I have come out hoping to get something to eat as it has been days since we ate well," a labourer said.

They also complained that there had been no response from helpline numbers that were issued by the state administration.
