Noida (Uttar Pradesh):Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, a 2007 batch IAS officer, on Tuesday has taken the charge of District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Noida.
He replaces B.N. Singh who has been sent to the Board of Revenue.
Singh was transferred after he sought to proceed on three-month leave on a day the number of COVID-19-positive persons in the district touched 38, the highest in Uttar Pradesh.
Singh’s move was prompted by an angry outburst from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who criticised district officials for passing the buck to each other over rising cases in the State.
After taking charge, ETV Bharat interacted with the newly appointed DM about his strategies to fight with the virus originated in China's Wuhan province.

The precautionary measures that have been taken by the government, only to protect your family members from the deadly COVID-19 virus," said Suhas LY to ETV Bharat.
Also, he appealed the residents, not to panic in any circumstances and urged the people to cooperate with the security personnel in order to curb the pandemic.
"Strict action will be taken, in case the security officials found any person guilty of violating the norms of lockdown," added DM.
Who is Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj?
- Yathiraj,born on July 2, 1983, is an Indian professional Para-Badminton player currently ranked World No.2 in Men’s Singlesand an IAS officer of 2007 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Yathiraj, during 2016 Asian Para-Badminton Championships - He was formerly serving as the District Magistrate of Allahabad.
- He became National Champion after winning Gold Medal in Men's Singles category at 2nd National Para-Badminton Championships held at Varanasi in March 2018.
- At the 2016 Asian Para-Badminton Championships, Beijing, he became thefirst Indian bureaucrat to win a professional International Badminton Championship.
