Muslim man gets threats after converting to Hinduism

Qasim Khan, who was married to Anita, a Hindu, eight years ago, informed the police that they were living peacefully while practising their separate religious beliefs but he got influenced by seeing his wife practising Hinduism and got converted to it of his own free will.

Aligarh: A Muslim family, which converted to Hinduism four days ago, has urged police for protection, saying threatening phone calls have made their lives miserable.

Qasim Khan, who was married to Anita, a Hindu, eight years ago, said they were living peacefully while practising their separate religious beliefs but he got influenced by seeing his wife practising Hinduism and got converted to it with his own free will.

Khan, who has also changed his name with his religion and known as Karamveer Singh Mohar now, said that he started getting threatening calls soon after the news of him getting converted to Hinduism went public.

Khan, who was a resident of Jhalkari Nagar in Delhi Gate area, met senior superintendent of police, seeking help against the threats. He is living with his wife and a child at a new place in view of threats.

He told the police officer that threatening phone calls from unknown numbers were being made on his number and the callers would threaten to kill him and his family. A Hindu family, which is helping the newly converted family, is also getting the same kinds of threats.

Meanwhile, SP crime, Arvind Kumar has said that a case has been registered under the relevant section of the law and the family has been provided with security.
