A mother-daughter duo in Rampur has been locked up in a room by their family members, on the suspicion of being COVID-19 positive, since their return from Jabalpur three days ago.

Rampur:The fear of COVID-19 is forcing people to mistreat even their loved ones. A case of mistreatment has surfaced from Rampur, where a woman has been locked up in a room with her eight-year-old daughter by her family members, on the suspicion of being COVID-19 positive.

The mother-daughter duo, who had returned from Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur three days ago, were cooped up in a small room of their house, without food and other necessary facilities.

The incident came to light when the woman shared a video of them being locked in the room with her relatives and shared the story of torture with them.

In the video, the woman who lives in Adarsh Nagar area of Rampur, has accused her mother-in-law of harassing and torturing her. In the visuals, the eight-year-old girl is seen peering through the window into the hall of the house and constantly, asking her grandmother, "Why are you not opening the door?"

"Please open the door, I want to pee," said the girl, while knocking the door in hope.

Towards the end in the video, the teary-eyed woman can be heard assuring her daughter that they will open the door soon and said," Daddy will come and open the door. Don't worry."

As per reports, woman's husband is a legal officer in a local court.
