'Eyes gouged out, legs broken': Girl, 7, missing since May 3, found dead in field in UP's Kannauj

The girl's body was found in a nearby maize field at around 5:30 pm on Sunday. "We found her in a field. She was without clothes. Her feet were cracked and her legs were broken. Her eyes had been gouged out. It seemed as if someone had put acid on her. Her mouth was filled with mud," the father said.

Kannauj (Uttar Pradesh):In a gruesome incident that has sent shockwaves through Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district, a seven-year-old girl who had gone missing three days ago was found brutally murdered in a field outside the village under Talgram police station area of the district on Sunday. The girl's mutilated body was found with no clothes on and her eyes gouged out with family alleging rape and murder.

According to the father of the victim, the girl went missing during a wedding procession on May 4. Her family searched for her but to no avail. Her disappearance was reported to the police, and on Sunday evening, her body was found in a field outside the village. The family of the deceased girl alleges that she was raped and then brutally murdered.

"It was my niece's marriage. We all were busy with it. At around 9 or 10 pm (May 4), when we searched for my daughter, we could not find her. We are six brothers. I searched for her at all six houses. Till morning we kept looking for her and when we couldn't find her, we lodged a missing complaint with the local police," the victim's father told ETV Bharat.

"I think someone raped her and then killed her," he said adding that the family received WhatsApp calls from an unknown youth since the girl's disappearance. The police have been informed about these calls. The police have taken the girl's body into custody and kept it in the mortuary for investigation.

The forensic team has collected evidence from the spot, and investigations are underway. Superintendent of Police, Kunwar Anupam Singh, along with the police force, reached the spot as soon as the information about the brutal murder of the girl was received. This heinous crime has shocked the entire community, and people have expressed their anger and sorrow over the incident. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
