Minor girl raped in Uttar Pradesh

A minor girl was raped in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. A case has been registered against the accused youth under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Shahjahanpur (UP): A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth of her village, police said on Monday.

Circle Officer of Puwaya, Mahendra Pal, on Monday that the girl, a resident of a village under the Nigohi police station limits, was raped by culprit on February 4. According to the police, the assailant 'forcefully' took her to a secluded place and allegedly raped her.

Mahendra Pal added that the girl lives with her elder sister-in-law, and her father and brother work in Himachal Pradesh. The girl's father informed police after he reached the village.

Pal said that a case has been registered against the accused youth under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the IPC, and she has been sent for a medical examination.
