Minor chops off her tongue, offers it at temple in Uttar Pradesh

A minor devotee of Lord Shiva chopped off her tongue and offered it at a temple in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, the minor is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Banda (Uttar Pradesh): In a bizarre incident, a minor girl chopped off her tongue and offered it at a temple in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Banda district, police said on Friday.

According to the police, the minor, a devotee of Lord Shiva, cut her tongue yesterday and offered it at the temple built outside the village, following which she fell unconscious.

Some people present in the temple took her to the district hospital where she is undergoing treatment, he said

The police officer said the minor took the step out of her 'faith and belief'.

The girl's family members informed that she had been visiting the temple every day.

"She suddenly sliced off her tongue yesterday afternoon when she was offering prayers at the temple," her family said.
