Meat processing plant forces people to put their houses on sale

The resident of Kairana town in Shamli district have been requesting the local administration for years to shift meat processing plant which has made their lives miserable. Most of them have put their houses on sale as the stench of the meat processing plant is "unbreakable".

Shamli: A large meat processing plant at Kairana town in the district has been causing problems for people living in the area. Some of them are so fed up with the stench that they have put their houses on sale.

Locals are of the view that the meat processing plant has disrupted their lives as they can't even breathe properly. The stench that comes out of it has become a trademark of the area.

It's not that nobody complained about it to the authorities concerned. In fact, successive state governments were informed about the problem but nothing could be done.

People have finally come up with an idea of shifting themselves to other areas. Most of them have declared that houses are on sale.

The residents of the area say that requests and complaints have been sent to authorities but there has been no response from the administration. Hundreds of them are buried in the government files, they said.

Recently, the mission to get the meat plant shifted to some other area of the district was started once again by some people but nobody is sure if their request would see the light of the day.
