Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two FIRs against former Shia Waqf Board Chairman Wasim Rizvi in connection with alleged illegal sale-purchase and transfer of Waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on this, Mohsin Raza, Minister for Minority Welfare in Uttar Pradesh, said that many names will pop-up in coming days as there were financial irregularities and large-scale corruption in the Shia and Sunni Waqf Boards. It was a long-awaited demand to launch an inquiry in the alleged irregularity and now finally a case has been filed by the CBI.
He said, "Adhering to zero tolerance towards corruption, our government had ordered a CBI probe in October last year into the matter. The CBI has filed a case against the former chairman of Shia Waqf Board but a number of people are involved in this corruption."
Raza said that Yogi Adiyanath's government had received a lot of complaints regarding irregularities in the sale and purchase of properties in the Waqf Board.
