Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh): A man from Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh, who had donated an amount of Rs 1 crore for the construction of the Ram Temple back in 2018, has expressed happiness that the 'bhoomi pujan' is finally taking place.

Siyaram Umarvaishya had been in the news in 2018, when he had announced that he would donate Rs 1 crore towards the construction of the temple.

He was subsequently invited to the 'Dharma Sansad' held in Ayodhya on November 25, 2018 where he handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, who is now the chairman of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust.

He said that at the time of making the donation, he had Rs 1,01,02,000 in his account, meaning that he had given away almost his entire life savings for the temple.

Though many expressed apprehension that his donation might go waste if the Supreme Court judgment did not go in favour of the temple, Siyaram said he had immense faith that the temple would be built.

Though Siyaram has not yet been invited to the August 5 'bhoomi pujan', he did not express dissatisfaction. He said that he would visit Ayodhya anyway to get a feel of the occasion. He said he would visit Ayodhya on August 2 and stay there for a few days.

Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several top BJP leaders including L.K. Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and many other leaders of the RSS are expected to be present in Ayodhya for the ceremony.
