Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh): A man walked into a police station in Uttar Pradesh wearing a placard around his neck that said, "I am afraid of Sambhal police. I admit my mistakes. I am surrendering. Please do not shoot me."
This happened at Nakhasa police station on Sunday, when the history-sheeter identified as Naeem surrendered. He carried the placard to ensure he was not shot dead in an encounter. The man who was booked under Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-social Activities Prevention Act was carrying a bounty of Rs. 15,000 on his head.
Station House Officer Dharampal Singh said this is not the first time that a criminal has surrendered before the police with a placard seeking mercy. Criminals have surrendered in a similar manner in Amroha and Kanpur, too.
