Man held on rape charges in UP's Sambhal

A man was held on rape charges in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal. Sharif, alias Munna (22), used to frequently visit the woman's family and had made an obscene video of her.

Sambhal (UP): Police here arrested a man for allegedly raping a 21-year-old woman, an official said on Friday.

Sharif, alias Munna (22), used to frequently visit the woman's family and had made an obscene video of her, ASP Alok Jaiswal said.

He used to blackmail the woman over the video and had raped her many times, the ASP said, adding that he tried to blackmail her after her marriage on February 8 and shared the video with her husband.

An FIR in this connection was lodged on Wednesday and the accused was arrested on Thursday, the ASP said, adding that investigation is on.

The woman has alleged that her husband left her after getting the video.
