Man denounces dowry as he realizes in-laws' financial problems

A marriage in UP's Ghaziabad has become a talk of the town as the bridegroom, after realizing that there were financial constraints with the bride's family, declared that there would be no dowry involved in the marriage.

Ghaziabad: Realizing the financial problem of the bride's family, a young man here declared that he would not accept any dowry in his marriage, and he finally got married according to his wishes.

Young businessman Deva was to get married to Shahi and he soon realized that his in-laws were facing financial constraints because of the coronavirus-induced national lockdown. He consulted the issue with his family and announced that there would be no dowry in the marriage, which has now become a talk of the town.

Shahi, the bride who is an MBA, told ETV Bharat that she is really thankful to her mother-in-law as she accepted her without any dowry.

"I am feeling proud that my marriage took place without any dowry. I'm thankful to my mother-in-law and my father who made this a reality," she said while sitting with her husband.

"There were serious financial problems but I thank my father for everything that he has done," she said, adding that "I wish marriages could take place without any dowry".
