LS polls: Noida voters allege polling officials' delayed voting

Voting in 91 constituencies in 20 states, including Uttar Pradesh, for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 was held on Thursday. The Election Commission of India stated that adequate security measures were taken to ensure smooth polling yet there were reports of polling at many booths obstructed for difficulties faced by voters in all eight seats of the state. Voters at a booth in Noida alleged polling staff delayed voting and sent them back for the want of enrolment slips.

Noida:Voters in Noida Lok Sabha constituency of UP complained of faulty Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) on Thursday. They claimed that the polling staff was unaware of the voting process as they failed to help voters during the procedure.

Upset voters faced issues in casting vote in Noida

Polling process at Bal Bharti School booth number 90 was delayed by fifteen minutes and started at 7:15 am rendering several voters reach late to their offices.

According voters polling officials at booth forced them to carry their enrollment slips even if they had their voter identity card. The polling staff stated that voter identity card was not enough to cast votes.

People were upset with the poor services provided by the Election commission staff. They alleged that polling employees did not even update voters with their enrollment numbers in voters' list.

Some of them complained that they were misled by the polling staff. Voters were sent back in the absence of voter slips.
