Jhansi:A loyal dog tried to move the dead body of its owner and did not allow anyone to come near it for four hours, police sources said. Finally, police trapped the dog with a net and shifted it from the spot. After a while, the dog too died. The cause of the dog's death is yet to be known, police said.
The incident took place in Jhansi on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Sambhav Agnihotri (23), who was preparing for the civil services exam, had died allegedly by suicide in his house in Nalanda Om Garden in the posh Panchavati colony. His pet, Alex, who was at home at that time sat beside the body trying to move.
Sambhav's mother was undergoing treatment in Bhopal and his father, Anand Agnihotri had gone to visit her, said Abhishek Mishra, Sambhav's uncle. "When his son did not pick up his call last evening, Anand, a senior railway officer, called up his neighbour and asked him to check Sambhav's whereabouts. After the neighbour reached Agnihotri's house he found the dog at the door. When he tried to enter the house the tried to attack him," a relative said.
Feeling uneasy about the situation, the neighbour informed the police. Soon, Unnaogate outpost incharge Shivam Singh reached the spot. When he tried entering through the gate, Alex became ferocious and bit him. Sambhav's uncle said that Alex did not allow anyone to enter the house. Failing to pacify the dog, the municipal corporation team was called. After a lot of effort, the municipal workers managed to capture Alex with a net.
