Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh police have taken two people into custody for interrogation in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which eight lives were lost, and Union minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra has been summoned for questioning, Inspector General of Police, Lucknow range, Laxmi Singh said on Thursday.
While briefing the media IG said, "Two people are being questioned. They have confirmed the role of three others who are dead. Technically, they have also been accounted for. These people are giving a lot of information. We are sending summons to the main accused (Ashish Mishra) for questioning."
If Ashish Mishra does not abide by the summons, the legal proceedings will be followed," she added.
Ashish Mishra Teni is the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni. Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has alleged that son of Ajay Mishra Teni was involved in the violence. However, both the Union Minister of State and his son have refuted SKM's allegations.
On being asked about the Internet ban in UP, IG replied, "Internet service cannot be restored in the district as long as the law and order situation is not conducive. It will be restored once the situation is brought under control."
