Kanpur: Two Indian women held hostage in Oman are finally free and set to return home on Sunday after Kanpur Police approached the Indian embassy of Oman. Both women will reach Delhi from Oman on Sunday. The women were lured and promised dream jobs in Oman but were held hostage and forced to work as housemaids.
The case concluded after the Crime Branch of Kanpur Police arrested two human traffickers on Tuesday and sent them to jail. The names of both the smugglers are Atikurrahman and Muzammil. Both the traffickers were arrested posing as immigration agents. The accused had sent the women to Oman on the pretext of offering jobs. However, in this case, the women were taken hostage, tortured mentally and physically and were exploited.

According to DCP Crime Branch Salman Taj Patil, both women are from Unnao Kanshi Ram Colony. On April 9, Ramu, a mason by profession informed the Colonelganj police station that his wife had met Atikurrahman and Muzammil to get a job in Oman's hospital.
