Amar Dubey, fugitive gangster Vikas Dubey’s henchman who was killed in an encounter with the police on Wednesday; got married on June 29, just four days before the Kanpur ambush in which eight police personnel were killed during a failed raid on Dubey’s house at Bikru village.

Kanpur: Wanted criminal Vikas Dubey's close aide Amar Dubey who was killed in an encounter by Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday, got married on June 29, four days before the ambush and killing of eight police personnel took place in Kanpur.

Amar Dubey was number one on the list of 15 of Vikas Dubey's aides being hunted by the police since the killing of cops in Kanpur during a failed raid.

"Amar was married on June 29. Due to coronavirus, the rituals of the wedding took place at the house of Vikas Dubey, who was instrumental in the wedding," said Sarveshwari Devi, grandmother of Amar Dubey.

As per reports, the police have arrested Amar's wife Khushi Dubey, hours after the former was gunned down near Artara village in Hamirpur. His death came nine days after the duo got married.

As many as 68 policemen stationed at Chaubeypur police station, who attended the wedding have been removed and shunted to the reserve police lines as they are investigated over alleged links with Vikas Dubey. Amar Dubey, who was the don's nephew and bodyguard was on the run since the ambush and carried a bounty of Rs 50,000 for engineering the killing of cops.

Amar’s elder brother Atul Dubey, who was also Vikas’s aide, was gunned down on July 3 morning in an encounter, hours after the ambush at Bikru village.

Earlier today, Vikas Dubey, wanted in connection with the Kanpur ambush in which eight policemen were killed, was arrested at Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

The policemen, including a deputy superintendent of police, were ambushed in Bikru village in the Chaubeypur area of Kanpur, where they had gone to arrest Vikas Dubey and fell to bullets fired from rooftops on July 2.
