Kanpur encounter: Audio clip of Shashikant's wife narrating ordeal goes viral

After Kanpur police arrested Shashikant Pandey who was an active member of gangster Vikas Dubey gang, an audio clip of his wife Manju has surfaced online where she is heard narrating the whole incident of Kanpur encounter to Anjali, the wife of Vikas Dubey' brother Dipu. Manju also reveals that Anjali advised her to destroy the sim and hide Shashikant's phone.

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh):The audio clip of Manju Pandey, wife of Vikas Dubey's close aide Shashikant, has gone viral on social media where she has narrated the whole incident of Kanpur encounter, in which eight police personnel were martyred on the intervening night of July 2 and 3, on a phone call to one of her relatives.

In the audio clip, she was heard revealing how Vikas and his family members along with locals have killed the policemen.

Kanpur Police arrested Shashikant alias Sonu, who was having a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, on Tuesday from the Mela Tiraha area.

Additional Director General (ADG) (Law and order) Prashant Kumar held a press conference earlier in the day.

On the information provided by Shashikant, the police have recovered an AK-47 rifle and 17 cartridges from the house of gangster Vikas Dubey.

Meanwhile, an INSAS rifle and 20 live cartridges were seized from the house of Shashikant.

All these arms and ammunition were looted by the Vikas Dubey gang members from the policemen who were killed during the Kanpur encounter.

On being asked, Manu Pandey stated that she was terrified during the encounter and called Anjali, who lives in Lucknow and is the wife of Vikas Dubey' brother Dipu, and narrated her the complete incident.

Manu also revealed that Anjali had asked her to destroy the sim and hide Shashikant's phone but she handed it over to the police.
