Jhansi rape: 8 accused held, further probe on

Dinesh Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jhansi, said that all students, including two main accused Rohit Saini and Bharat Kushwaha, were arrested in connection with the rape that allegedly took place inside a city college.

Jhansi: Eight students, who are accused of raping a minor girl in a city college here, have been arrested within 12 hours of reporting the crime, police said.

Dinesh Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jhansi, told the media that all students, including two main accused Rohit Saini and Bharat Kushwaha, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

He said further investigation is on and if names of any other students surfaced in the crime, action will be taken against them too.

"The arrested have been put in judicial custody and are being questioned," the police official added.

A 17-year-old girl was raped in a Jhansi college on Sunday.
