Ayodhya:Mohammad Iqbal Ansari, the Babri Masjid litigant on Tuesday said that those commenting on rallies taken to out to collect funds for the construction of Ram Temple do not know what religion means. He added that neither Islam nor any other religion teaches people to disrespect anyone's belief and faith and stops them from participating in religious activities and that's why everyone should come together and contribute to the temple construction.

"Those who are saying anything over the funds for Ram temple in Ayodhya are doing politics. They are not aware of the Ganga-Jamuni culture where Hindu-Muslim live together peacefully. They do not know that we have been celebrating each other's festivals for ages now," Ansari said. He added that Islam does talk about charity and says it should always be discreet.

"Islam teaches that the left hand shouldn’t know what the right is doing. I myself will contribute to the construction of the Ram temple, but will not make a deal out of it. Nobody should," he told ETV Bharat.

He further said that everyone should come together and contribute to the temple construction.

Ansari's comments come in the wake of several questions being asked for the funds being collected for the Ayodhya temple construction.

Earlier, incidents were reported of stone-pelting on vehicle rallies taken out in Ujjain, Indore, Mandsaur, Neemuch, and Khargone by some right-wing organizations to raise awareness about the construction of a Ram temple.

Even though Iqbal Ansari's father Marhum Hashim Ansari fought for the rights of Babri for a long time, he now stands for communal harmony and said that topics like these should be sorted out peacefully and harmoniously.

"If the Supreme Court has given an order for the temple construction, there is no point of keeping an enmity between people," Ansari said.
