Indo-Nepal border dispute: Seven districts in Uttar Pradesh put on high alert

Seven districts of Uttar Pradesh have been put on high alert after Nepal Police on Friday fired indiscriminately, killing an Indian and injuring two others.

Lucknow: In view of the Indo-Nepal border dispute, Uttar Pradesh's Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) has issued an alert in seven districts of the state after Nepal border police opened fire inside Nepalese territory adjoining Bihar's Sitamarhi district following an altercation, an official said.

"Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Shravasti, Balrampur, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit districts have been put on high alert. The situation at the Indo-Nepal border is tense. Currently, both the Seema Suraksha Bal (SSB) and the local police lalbandi are positioned at the border while the Nepal army is campaigning on the Narayanpur border," a cop said.
