Kannauj: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav here on Sunday said incarnations of Lord Vishnu belonged to all but the BJP feels that the god belongs to them only.
"God belongs to all. All incarnations of Lord Vishnu, be it Lord Ram or Lord Krishna, are worshipped by us, the SP chief told reporters, adding that Parshuram is also a god and everyone worships him. But, the BJP feels that the god belongs to them only," Yadav said taking a dig at the saffron party.
"Navratras are about to come, during which we will worship the nine forms of the goddess. Does Goddess Durga belongs to the BJP only," he asked.
The former UP chief minister also hit out at the state government for deteriorating law and order situation while referring to the killings in Pratapgarh and a girl in Lakhimpur Kheri.
"This government has failed to control crime even during the coronavirus lockdown," the SP chief said.
Yadav said that the harassment of girls and women is at its peak during the Bharatiya Janata Party's rule.
"The ruthless killing after raping a teenage girl in Lakhimpur Kheri, UP is a shocking incident to humanity. During the BJP's rule, harassment of girls and women of Uttar Pradesh is at its peak. Why is the BJP government offering protection to accused in cases of rape, kidnapping, crime and killings? #NoMoreBJP," Yadav tweeted on Sunday.
Earlier on Friday, the girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Isanagar in Lakhimpur Kheri. Later, the police recovered her body from a sugarcane field in the same area.
Satyendra Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP), Lakhimpur Kheri said two men have been booked under offences of murder and gangrape, adding that action will also be taken against them under the NSA.
