A salaried employee of Tata Motors, Singh decided to host the party to send out a message of peace and harmony among the people.

"I organised this event to spread the message of peace and harmony among Hindus and Muslims and to set this as an example. Some elements in our society are trying to incite enmity between the two religious communities, but we shouldn't let this happen."

Before sundown on Friday, several men, both Hindu and Muslim, gathered within the premise of Singh's office and opened their fast with the Iftar offered by Singh and thereafter held Namaz (prayer).
