Gorakhpur: According to belief, any human can be cured of diseases with the help of natural elements of the earth - the sun, soil, air and water. What may sound a little strange but this is a fact and proving this is a temple in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.
The temple has carved a niche for itself not only in India but globally in the field of natural medicine. It gets visitors not only from the country but from different parts of the world. This natural hospital, known as Arogya Mandir has remained a reliable centre to free the people from serious diseases for the last 80 years. As a centre of world-class natural medicine, patients here get rid of diseases without any medicine. Lakhs of people from different parts of the world have visited the Arogya Centre so far and have been benefited by the treatment which is available here.
CM Yogi honoured the facility
The story behind the establishment of the Arogya Mandir is said that Dr Vitthal Das Modi, who himself was suffering from severe diseases, did not get any respite from the treatment he got in the hands of the practitioners of allopathy. Even after not getting any benefit from the treatment of allopathy medicine for three years, he opted for naturopathy and returned home healthy, free from the diseases which had been haunting him for long. He established this institution by the name of ‘Arogya Mandir’ in Amabagh, Medical College Road, Gorakhpur in the year 1940 to take naturopathy to the people’s doorstep and ensure everyone leads a healthy life.
Along with this, he also started publishing a monthly magazine called ‘Arogya’ from 1947. Its readers are in the country and abroad. Apart from this, about 26 books related to medicine are published here. Presently, under the supervision of Dr Vitthal Das Modi’s son Dr Vimal Kumar Modi, this health centre is touching the new heights of success. Many celebrities of the country including President Ram Nath Kovind and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have honoured this health facility. On the occasion of the Naturopathy Day last year, an Asian record was created here in the treatment of mud coating.
