Five people were killed in a truck-car collision in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district. The accident happened late night at around 11 am after they were returning from a marriage ceremony in Haridwar.

Meerut:Tragedy struck a marriage party when five of its members belonging from Haryana were killed in a major accident after the car they were travelling in rammed into a truck in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district.

The accident happened late night at around 11 am on Chaudhary Charan Singh Kawand Marg near Sardhana Police station.

According to the police, the car riders were returning after attending a wedding ceremony in Haridwar.

Their car collided with a truck coming from the front, killing all five on the spot, police informed.

On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took out the dead bodies from the car and took them into their possession.

The police informed the incident to their families on the basis of the documents found with them.

The relatives of the deceased who reached the spot said that all five were working as engineers in the same company.

After the accident, the truck driver escaped leaving the truck on the spot.

CO Sardhana Pankaj Kumar said that the accident was caused due to high speed of the car.

All five bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and necessary action is being taken, CO added.
