Firing, stone-pelting in Farrukhabad over land dispute

BJP city general secretary Arun Dubey Baba bought a plot in village Khanpur from Brijesh Shakya. When he went to get the plot leveled, he alleged that Anil Katiyar who also had a plot at the location had encroached on his land.

Farrukhabad:In a dispute over land in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad between a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and his neighbour, several members of both sides were injured after the matter escalated from stone-pelting to firing on Thursday.

According to the information, BJP city general secretary Arun Dubey Baba, resident of Mohalla Narakasa of Kotwali area of the city, bought a plot in village Khanpur from Brijesh Shakya.

During the mapping of the area, a four-way junction came out in that plot.

On Thursday Dubey had gone to level his plot where Anil Katiyar's land is on the side of his plot.

Dubey then alleged that Anil has occupied his entire land and is extending the pathways on Dubey's plot.

Anil denied the allegations and the matter started escalating. Both the parties engaged in verbal fights and slowly started pelting stones on each other. A few minutes later, heavy firing started from both sides.

When the villagers informed the police, Qadri Gate outpost in charge Hari Om Tripathi reached the spot with the force and seized a JCB from the spot.

The police also found 12 bore cartridges.

SP Anil Kumar Mishra said that there is a disputed land in Farrukhabad Kotwali Khanpur between the two parties.

It has come to the notice that the dispute was settled at the level of the High Court.

Arun Dubey, Brijesh Shakya, who had made the deed, had demarcated the land of these people and the other side was told that they had nothing at the disputed location.

While several rounds were fired, no one was hurt. Some were injured in the stone-pelting however.
